Personal Book Club

So I have been compiling a list of classic literature to read ever since I graduated from good old Chapel Hill High School.  But only recently, have I added the great Victor Hugo.  To me, he was a behemoth of French culture not to be touched without a cold dark winter and unemployment.

Admittedly I was drawn to Les Miserables from the musical, but I had no idea that it would be such a captivating read.  Unlike Tolstoy or Dostoyevsky, I like dragging this big book on the subway.  I know it sad, sad and more sad but there is something about these characters that are timeless and inspiring.
